Name
General Session (Payments Track) – Universal Payment Acceptance
Date & Time
Wednesday, December 8, 2021, 1:45 PM - 2:30 PM
Margaret Ryan
Description

There is a massive coalescence happening in payments driven by the globalization of e-commerce. Organizations like Rakuten, Etsy, Alibaba, and Amazon are increasingly attracting customers and generating sales across the globe. Traditional payments are being challenged by alternative payment schemes, and merchants increasingly demand that they be able to accept any payment type from any consumer in any market. Traditional approaches to managing payments can’t adapt to this model. These platforms will still capture a significant share, but alternative payments will play an increasingly important role. This session will discuss the changes in the payment space, the impact those changes will have on global commerce, the possible path forward in the evolution of commerce and payments, and the rapid growth of alternative payments as a core component of the payments ecosystem.
