Panel 1: The State of the Chinese Fintech Market
8:30 am – 9:15 am
The allure of Chinese fintech has slowly been moving from east to west over the past several years, with partnerships forming between Western financial firms and onshore Chinese fintech companies. For instance, in 2018, BlackRock entered a strategic relationship with Evestment Tamerac to provide advisors with new investment tech solutions. Symphony announced a partnership to integrate Tencent’s WeChat into its collaboration community in 2019. That same year, IHS Markit entered into a joint venture with Hundsun to bring electronic book building to the Chinese bond market.
2020 will bring a range of new opportunities for Western firms interested in partnering with Chinese companies or doing business in China. This panel discusses the roadmap companies should understand when contemplating investment. Panelists will discuss the following questions:
- What regulations should firms be aware of to conduct cross-border business?
- What areas in capital markets offer great opportunities for joint venture?
- Where, how, and with whom should Western companies enter Chinese markets?
