JR is the Chief Operating Officer of State Street Alpha. JR is responsible for strategy, 3rd party ecosystem development, marketing, sales processes, operational oversight, employee engagement, risk, controls, and administration. He also oversees State Street’s MIG21 compliance software business.

Prior to starting this position in late 2019, JR was the Chief Administrative Officer of Charles River Development, a portfolio management system software firm purchased by State Street in October 2018. He was responsible for strategy, business development, and day-to-day business operations. He also co-led Charles River’s integration into State Street.

Prior to that, JR was the head of Innovation & Advisory Solutions for State Street Global Exchange, which provides data and analytics solutions for institutional investors.  In this capacity, he was responsible for GX’s offerings targeted at Supporting State Street’s clients in their investment management activities.  Earlier State Street roles included leading GX’s business in EMEA, acting as GX’s COO upon its initial formation, and working on strategic projects in derivatives, collateral management, and middle office services.

JR has 30 years of professional experience across financial services and other industries. Prior to joining State Street in 2010, he held several roles with Fidelity Investments, including leading Fidelity’s corporate transformation effort and serving in several senior leadership roles in Employer Services (FESCo) and Personal and Workplace Investing (PWI). Before joining Fidelity, JR was a partner with the consulting firm McKinsey and Company. He began his career as an officer in the United States Air Force.

He received a Bachelor of Science in engineering from Duke University, a Master of Science in electrical engineering from Northeastern University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School.

JR is a member of the Board of Overseers for Boston’s Institute of Contemporary Arts and an Advisory Board member for the Fintech Sandbox.  His prior community involvement include serving as a Town Meeting member in Lexington, Massachusetts; serving on the Executive Committee of the Appalachian Mountain Club’s Boston Chapter and on Citizen Schools’ Council of Champions; and volunteering as a youth basketball coach. He was also a long-time member of the Pratt School of Engineering Board of Visitors at Duke University.
