John E. Scully is Managing Director, Head of Small Business Digital Sales and Service at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Scully is responsible for Bank of America’s Small Business digital service and sales, including deposit, card, lending, and merchant services, through which the Bank’s 11 million business owners are provided with exceptional digital experiences to help them grow and prosper.

Scully is a pioneer in the internet banking space and helped launch CashPro® at LaSalle Bank in the late 1990’s.  CashPro Online is now Bank of America’s flagship commercial offering and one of the top transaction banking applications in the world.

In 2018, Scully transitioned to the consumer bank where he now focuses on making the digital lives of Small Business better through intuitive online and mobile solutions.   

Scully works extensively in the Lean-Agile space and helped transition the bank’s software development to a Lean-Agile model that streamlined product design and development.

Scully currently holds six patents for his work in global information reporting systems and the bank’s CashPro Assistant platform; and has ten patents pending for a variety of digital banking services.

He is a Certified Treasury Professional and holds a Certified Six Sigma Greenbelt.

Scully graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a bachelor’s degree in finance.

Active in the community, he has served on the board of directors for the Union League Club of Chicago, is a past president of the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago Associate Board, and is a current member of the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab’s Keystone Board. 

Scully resides in Wilmette, IL with his wife Erica and two children, John and Shae.
